Dental Treatments

Dental Implants

Dental implants are today’s best replacement alternative to missing teeth as they are safe and long lasting. Implants are now used as routine treatment for an entire range of problems from replacing a single tooth to full oral rehabilitation & even for reliable denture retention. An implant is a sophisticated titanium screw which is placed into the jaw bone to replace the root of a missing natural tooth. It fuses with the jaw bone to form a secure foundation for tooth replacement. The end result’s in the teeth that look, feel and function just like natural ones.

Tooth extraction

Tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth from its socket in the bone. If a tooth has been broken or damaged by decay, your dentist will try to fix it with a filling, crown or other treatment. Sometimes, though, there’s too much damage for the tooth to be repaired. In this case, the tooth needs to be extracted. A very loose tooth also will require extraction if it can’t be saved, even with bone replacement surgery (bone graft).

Root Canal Treatment

Root Canal Treatment procedure is started by drilling the enamel part of the tooth, that is topmost portion of the tooth. First the Dentist enters the pulp chamber, where the infected pulp is present. The next step is exploration of root canal, removal of the remaining pulp tissue and infected tissue. The infected pulp is then drilled out with the help of long needle shaped drills called files, Remears, K-flex, Headstroem ( H-files), etc.

Dentures

Apart from the implant supported dentures there are regular dentures which rest on the jaw bones. These should be removed at night and soaked in water. Additionally, they need to be removed and cleaned every time a person eats anything.

Crown & Bridges

A crown is a dental restoration which completely encircles the existing natural tooth and restores it to its natural form. Crowns are most commonly used to strengthen a severely damaged tooth, and are bonded with dental cement. Crowns are also fitted on top of implants to provide a tooth-like restoration. And A dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth. They are recommended in cases where removable dentures or dental implants may not be suitable. Dental bridges consist of an artificial tooth attached to a crown on the natural tooth on each side of the gap.

Scaling

Dental health is an important part of your general health. Whatever your age, you can and should have healthy teeth. Correct dental care can help you keep your teeth healthy for a lifetime. Scaling is one such procedure that keeps your gums healthy and firm. It is a procedure used to remove infected deposits like plaque, calculus and stains from the tooth surfaces. Such deposits, if not removed by scaling, cause infection and loosening of the gums, ultimately leading to pyorrhoea and tooth loss. Scaling is a safe and routine procedure and does not damage the tooth surface in any way. It must be done by a dental professional. We at Viable Multi – Speciality Hospital advice our patient to get a dental scaling done once every six months.
